Description
Boondi Laddu is a classic and beloved confection from Indian cuisine, instantly recognizable by its vibrant, spherical shape and unique, granular texture. It is prepared by first mixing chickpea flour (besan) into a batter, which is then passed through a ladle with small holes to create tiny, pearl-like droplets called boondi, which are deep-fried until golden. These fried droplets are immediately soaked in a warm, fragrant sugar syrup—often flavored with cardamom, saffron, and sometimes infused with edible camphor or cloves. While soaking, the boondi absorb the syrup, becoming soft and moist. Finally, the saturated mixture is pressed firmly by hand into dense, round balls. The resulting laddu is rich, sweet, and melts delightfully in the mouth, making it an indispensable part of Hindu festivals like Diwali and Ganesh Chaturthi, as well as celebrations like weddings and other special occasions.
